US$32 billion deals for Doha Metro project 2/12/2013
Qatar Rail has signed agreements totally worth over $32 billion, in order to proceed with the Doha Metro Project, Hamad Al-Bishri, deputy CEO and chief program officer, Qatar Rail, said while speaking at Trans4 2013 - Qatar's International Transport and Logistics Industry Exhibition.
 
Phase 1 of the Doha Metro is expected to be completed in 2019. Al-Bishri added: “Similarly, we are moving ahead at great speed with The Lusail Light Rail Transit, slated to be officially delivered by end of 2016; having already finalized the drilling works for the project's tunnels, we've completed over 55 percent of the drilling works for its stations.”
 
the Doha Metro will tie together the capital's inner and outer areas such as Lusail city, the New Doha International Airport, the Education City, Al Wakrah and the West Bay area.
