In a first-of-its-kind step toward facilitating better education opportunities in remote areas of the Kingdom, through The Princess Alia Foundation initiative "Sustainable Education Through Renewable Energy" Al-Ghwebbeh Secondary Schools, located in the Jordan Valley district, welcomed the inauguration of a solar energy project designed to generate electricity for the two campuses.
This landmark project is the result of a cooperative undertaking by National Arab Motors, the Princess Alia Foundation, and the Ministry of Education.
Taking advantage of Jordan’s sunny climate, which sees more than 300 days of sunshine each year and an average of eight hours of sunshine per day, the project seeks to enable underprivileged public schools to meet their electricity needs through the use of clean, efficient and low-cost photovoltaic energy. Additionally, the project aims to raise awareness about renewable energy in remote areas of Jordan, increasing the capacity of communities and creating potential for job opportunities in the field.
The project will also help lower the national energy bill, reduce carbon emissions resulting from traditional methods of electricity generation, and support national efforts to conserve the environment.
The Asalah Company, which specializes in sustainable energy, is responsible for the implementation of the project, including the supply, installation and operation of solar modules to generate electricity for Al-Ghwebbeh Secondary School for Boys and Al-Ghwebbeh Secondary School for Girls.
