A new OECD report provides an overview of biodiversity-related development finance by members of the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) and other providers.
The report shows that in 2022, DAC members marked a new record on development finance for biodiversity of USD 7.1 billion, which shows an 8% increase from 2015. The analysis also finds that total development finance for biodiversity from a range of sources increased by 112% over the period 2015-22, rising from USD 7.3 billion in 2015 to USD 15.4 billion in 2022.
The report will contribute to the discussions at the sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP16), where governments will review the state of implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) with the goal of raising USD 200 billion per year from all sources, including official development assistance (ODA) to be directed to biodiversity.
