Pollution-free ports planned 10/10/2013
The Saudi Ports Authority has vowed to reduce marine pollution at the Kingdom’s ports and enhance cooperation with the Metrology and Environmental Protection Administration (MEPA) in this regard.

Abdulaziz Al-Tuwaijiri, president of the Saudi Ports Authority, and Abdul Aziz Al-Jasser, president of MEPA, both formally agreed on initiatives to improve environmental safety on Tuesday.

Hussain Al-Qahtani, media relations manager of MEPA, said both officials had discussed topics related to environment and pollution in ports during their meeting.

The agencies agreed to form joint committees and hold regular meetings to evaluate marine pollution in the Kingdom’s ports to monitor vessel movements.

The Ports Authority has invited MEPA to visit the Jeddah Islamic Port to study environmental hazards and impact.
