EAD and National Geographic promote The Great Nature Project 4/9/2013
The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) has joined the world's largest nonprofit scientific and educational organisation, National Geographic, to help promote The Great Nature Project, an ambitious initiative designed to inspire biodiversity conservation efforts among the public, globally and across the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

EAD will 'champion' the project in the UAE, and along with the Abu Dhabi Global Environmental Data Initiative (AGEDI) and the Mohammed Bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund, will consolidate efforts to drive awareness on the project through their collective local, regional and international networks.

National Geographic and its partners hope that The Great Nature Project will inspire conservation efforts and help foster an appreciation for the world's natural heritage by bringing together people of all ages from across the world to take pictures of plants and animals where they live. The public is being asked to take pictures from September 21st to 29th and share the precious, varied and sometimes fragile biodiversity of the UAE with the rest of the world. Whether it is one of the 800 species of plants, 54 species of reptiles or 49 species of mammals native to the UAE, the public can showcase the nation's biodiversity to a global audience.

National Geographic, EAD, AGEDI and the Mohammed Bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund are calling on students, nature and animal lovers, scientists, NGOs and the general public to capture images of the world's vast array of animals and plants in a bid to celebrate the planet and its wonders.
