Scientists say 2023 could be hottest year on record 10/7/2023
With the world’s average temperature reaching 17.23 degrees Celsius this month and it is going further up, 2023 may become the hottest year. Jennifer Francis, a senior scientist at Woodwell Climate Research Center has said that the record is based on the mid-twentieth century. Scientists have said that the impact of climate change is yet to be fully understood.

European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service has said it has been the substantial margin. Besides, the ocean temperature has not been recorded. On the other hand, parts of North America have experienced unprecedented heat waves. The temperatures of these areas have been 5 degrees Celsius higher than normal times. Sea ice has come down to an unprecedented level in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service director has also said that the world is on a never seen territory. Temperature is also going up because fossil fuels are used blatantly and polluting gases and fumes are filling the atmosphere of the earth.

Scientists are also working to know if the weather patterns are also changing and so the heat waves are becoming more intense than earlier predicted by the climate models. They are also studying if heat waves, floods, and draughts will become more frequent. The heat waves from Texas moved to the south and reached Mexico, where not less than 112 people have been killed between March to Jun due to heat waves. (The Economic Times)
