Hospital Tower in Mexico Eats Smog 24/7/2013
The building of this hospital is designed very uniquely. Located in Mexico, the hospital tower has a façade covered with special material that is capable of neutralizing the effect of pollution by 1,000 cars daily.

The material that it is coated with is such that when UV rays from sun strike it, they begin to breakdown the pollutants to less harmful substances. The building is amazingly contributing to lessening the effect of pollution in the city and saving the environment.

Air in the city was considered to be the worst in the world about 20 year ago. It was so bad that the birds in the sky died and fell down. But the scenario has changed a lot since that day. The city has been working towards cleaning of its environment.

The pollution levels in the city have reduced greatly. However, the city is still highly polluted with over 4.5 million cars registered in the city.

The material used in the coating of this building was designed in Berlin. By using titanium dioxide, they developed a pigment that coats the tiles, or so-called modules. When pollutants come into contact with the modules, they're turned into compounds like water and carbon dioxide.
