Aly Abou Sabaa was appointed director general of the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA). The Egyptian civil engineer and former vice president of the African Bank for Development will take up the post on October 15th, 2016.

 

The current General Director, Dr. Mahmoud Solh, will step down after ten years of service in this position, bringing it to be the key research organization in dry areas. “Dr. Mahmoud Solh has been a brilliant director general of ICARDA and has transformed its presence across the dry areas and the world,” the chair of ICARDA’s board of trustees Margret Thalwitz said.

 

Dr. Solh has authored or co-authored several chapters of the Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED) annual reports and participated in AFED’s annual conferences on Arab Environment.
