Pisceans get new lease of life with release into Mina Al Arab reserve 20/6/2013
A delegation from Environment Protection and Development Authority (EPDA) visited Mina Al Arab Reserve located in Muzahmi Creek, which forms part of Mina Al Arab project managed by RAK Properties, and released 9,600 Silver Seabream and 1,000 Hamour fishes.

According to EPDA, the area is the ideal location for this project as it is full of reserves, coves and mangroves.

The presence of large number of mangroves in ‘Al Muzahmi’ will help these species to adapt naturally and provide a boost to the overall fish wealth in the UAE.

Mohamed Sultan Al Qadi, managing director and CEO of RAK Properties, said, “We are delighted to contribute to the environment conservation initiatives being run in Ras Al Khaimah. We will continue to support all measures and programmes designed to protect natural resources and boost fish wealth in the UAE.”

Dr Saif M. Al Ghais, executive director of the EPDA, said, “We have selected Mina Al Arab Reserve as it is considered an ideal area for nursing the Silver Seabream before they are transferred to the fishery inventory.

The reserve plays a key role in enriching the environmental resources in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

Al Qadi added: “Mina Al Arab Reserve is part of Mina Al Arab project that is developed by RAK Properties and situated on Ras Al Khaimah’s coastline, covering an area of 3.25 million sqm.”
