Winners of Al Wathba photography contest – pictures inside 18/5/2016
The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi announced the winners of the Al Wathba Photography Competition worth Dh20,000 and ran on EAD’s Instagram account.

The competition, which challenged photographers to capture Al Wathba Wetland Reserve’s natural beauty and rich biodiversity, witnessed a high degree of competition with 144 submissions taken by 77 photographers.

"The photography competition enticed a number of people to experience the Al Wathba Wetland Reserve, and many of them beautifully captured the abundance of nature within its natural habitat," Khansa Al Blouki, Section Manager-Environmentally Sustainable Communities at EAD, said. "We feel compelled to run many more similar competitions and other initiatives that connect our community with our nature heritage."

The winning photographs were chosen by a jury comprising a group of journalists and photographers. Winners were awarded on Monday during a special ceremony at EAD with competition prizes worth a total of Dh20,000.

Winning photos and all entries submitted for the Al Wathba Photography Competition can be viewed on EAD’s Instagram account using the two hashtags, #Alwathbacontest #inabudhabi. (The National)
