The province of Djelfa in Algeria presented its creative educational achievement award to Omar Borman, advisor of the green club at Bouhali Zian school in Fayd Al Butmah. Borman got the award for his book "How to Establish an Environmental School Project", based on AFED’s manual "Environment at School".
The book tells the story of how the green club won first prize in AFED’s contest for Arab schools to establish an environmental page on Facebook. It includes information and activities taken from AFED’s manual, adapted to the Algerian environment and implemented by club members.
Borman launched another initiative, funded by sales of his book: a school competition for best environmental education practices. More than 10 green clubs in Djelfa province are competing.
Accepting his award, Borman said: "This is the impact of the environmental revolution launched by AFED’s pan-Arab education program."
