Umm Al Emarat Park earns Green Flag status 3/5/2016
Umm Al Emarat Park has been awarded the Green Flag, an international award given to the best green spaces according to a set of criteria established by the UK organisation.

“Working towards securing the Green Flag Award for Umm Al Emarat Park began during the early stages of park design and construction. We wanted to make sure that it met the required criteria for different award categories," said Tanuja Kothari, project director at Al Ain Properties, which built the park.

The criteria met by the park since its reopening in March last year includes sustainability, community involvement, cleanliness, safety, conservation and heritage.

During its first year, the park, which was formerly known as Mushrif Park, hosted 35 events that attracted more than 800,000 visitors.

Park manager Abdessalem Khabir said: “The Green Flag award is an acclaimed accolade that recognises best practices in managing green spaces. It has been a wonderful experience working closely with the judges and showcasing our beautiful park to them." (The National)
