Staff from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority will visit the Amazonian rainforest in Peru next month.
They will study the effects of climate change on biodiversity, ecosystems and inhabitants of the Amazon, said Saeed Al Tayer, DEWA chief executive.
Peru was chosen because of the visible effects of climate change on the rainforest there, Al Tayer said.
The trip was planned based on the success of the authority’s last excursion, which was to Antarctica. It is part of DEWA efforts to promote understanding about environmental issues. (The National)
