Environment-based sports given priority Dubai 24/2/2016
More than 30 recommendations were raised on the agenda of the third GCC Sports and Environment Lab in Dubai where top officials of the GCC NOCs took part.

During the discussions, a significant proposal was also made to appoint an 'environmental ambassador' to spread the successful sports message for the promotion of environment-oriented sports platform.

Shaima Zarouni, member of the NOC Executive Office and event manager, said: "This workshop aligns the vision of our wise leadership that calls for enhancing creativity and innovation techniques in various disciplines in order to work out positive solutions and forward-looking ideas that bring about positives to future generations, and ensures sustainable development and translate the cherished aspirations and goals."

Al Zarouni added: "The participants had the chance to express their views on this vital aspect, given the close relationship between sport and environment, and the common goals aimed to nurture a healthy environment by reducing environmental pollution and utilizing sports events to promote this concept."

The presentations also reviewed the nomination of Abu Dhabi as an Arab Environment Capital for the year 2015 thanks to its huge efforts in environmental protection.
