Agencies investing more than $40M for restoring forests 22/2/2016
The USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service and the U.S. Forest Service have announced an investment of over $40 million for restoration of forests to reduce wildfire threats, protect water supplies, improve wildlife habitat and support rural economies.
 
More than 40 partners are contributing to the project, including the NRCS, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Arkansas Association of Conservation District, Arkansas Forestry Commission, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
 
Oklahoma agencies include the Oklahoma Forestry Services, Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation and Oklahoma Conservation Districts.
 
This is the third year of the Joint Chiefs' Landscape Restoration Partnership between the two agencies to improve the health and resiliency of forest ecosystems where public and private lands meet. (ABC News)
