Polluters to be fined under system being developed by Abu Dhabi environment agency 20/1/2016
The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) will develop a system to fine tankers, individuals, companies and entities caught polluting the land or marine environment, said Sheikha Al Hossani, Deputy Executive Director of the Environmental Quality Sector at the EAD.
 
Al Ittihad newspaper reported that Ms. Al Hossani announced the EAD will prepare a comprehensive policy targeting coastal areas in Abu Dhabi. An emergency and spill response plan will also be developed.
 
This year will see the creation of a plan to ensure the preservation of the marine environment through testing water quality and sediments, a review of laws on liquid waste disposal and the preparation of guidelines to curb the deterioration of sea water quality. (The National)
