The General Directorate of Environmental Health at the Riyadh Municipality has stepped up its efforts to generate support for its campaign to conserve the environment.
“This is being done by enlisting the support of the community which is being urged to observe cleanliness and maintain a good and healthy environment,” said Dr. Falah bin Abdullah Al-Dosari, director general of Environmental Health.
Regarding the recent film produced by the Directorate, he said: “Film production has been added to the outreach efforts to encourage the maintenance of a healthy environment. The film shows people how to keep a healthy environment in the community,” he said.
The film also uses cartoons to illustrate the message as well as providing instructions on how to avoid diseases caused by mosquitoes, flies and rodents. In addition, it shows information on how to effectively combat diseases, such as avoiding breeding grounds for germs, including swimming pools and fountains, toilets and cabinets, for example.
Moreover, the film screening includes an “awareness hour,” complete with detailed instructions for the cleaning and disinfection of all indoor locations, which could serve as a breeding ground for pests which pose a serious danger to public health. Al-Dosari said the film comes within a system of activities designed to maintain a healthy environment through a number of non-traditional ways to get the message across to the public.
The directorate would be ready to respond to the community should they seek assistance in maintaining a healthy environment, he said.
