Thousands of people to take part in UAE-wide clean-up 16/9/2015
More than 125,000 volunteers are expected to take part in the latest Clean-Up UAE campaign this year.

Emirates Environment Group (EEG) announced the 14th cycle of the campaign, in which teams will take to their local areas to remove rubbish and debris.

“The goal for this year is to work collaboratively towards making the world a cleaner place to live in and, more importantly, to realize that it falls under the responsibility of the individual to take action,” said Habiba Al Marashi, Chairperson EEG.

The 10-day initiative will take place at locations in all seven emirates beginning with Dubai on December 5 and ending in Dibba Al Hisn on December 16.

The campaign was launched through EEG’s new Arabic website, a first for the organization in its 24-year history.

Last year, 123,176 volunteers managed to divert 94 tonnes of waste from landfills.

This year the target is to get more people involved to collect and dispose of even more waste.

The campaign aims to give people in the UAE the support and tools to make a positive change in their communities.
