Emirates airline, a global connector of people, places and passions, hosted the in-flight prem-iere of “Living in the Age of Airplanes,” a new film for IMAX ®, giant screen, digital and other specialty theaters, that celebrates how aviation has changed the world, onboard one of the airline’s A380 aircraft.
The film, presented by National Geographic Studios, takes audiences on a journey through 95 locations in 18 countries, many of which make up Emirates’ vast global network that spans over 140 destinations worldwide. From the Maldives to the South Pole, the film illuminates how airplanes have empowered a century of global connectedness our ancestors could never have imagined.
The 47-minute film, narrated by actor and pilot Harrison Ford, takes audiences on a unique journey to show how the airplane has changed the world. A direct parallel to Emirates’ com-mitment to bringing people together, producer and director Brian J. Terwilliger set out to demonstrate how aviation has been a landmark for success in bridging the gaps between the corners of the world. Set to an original score by Academy Award®-winning composer and pilot James Horner, the film reflects on the ways that airplanes have transformed lives and progressed our global community.
In advance of the world-premiere in Washington DC on April 8th, U.S. and International me-dia were given a special preview of “Living in the Age of Airplanes” onboard, co-hosted by National Geographic and Emirates airline – a first-of-its-kind event.
The event began with a reception in the new Emirates Lounge located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport. Guests then boarded one of Emirates’ fleet of 59 iconic, double-decker A380s for a special flight over the Los Angeles area.
