SABIC holds drawing, photography contest to promote environment awareness 3/2/2015
Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) started conducting an environmental competition for school students in three cities in the Kingdom from Thursday (January 29), to raise awareness among the community on the need for better management of natural resources and care for the environment.

The competition is designed for boys and girls of select schools in Riyadh, Jubail and Yanbu, to encourage them to address the three key environment conservation pillars commonly referred to as the three Rs — recycle, reduce and reuse. It has two sections — a drawing contest for children in the 6-12 age group and a photography contest for students 12 to18 years.

This competition demonstrates the fact that SABIC understands the critical need for humankind to protect the global environment for the welfare of future generations. One step in this direction is to raise public awareness about the importance of optimum and effective use of available resources.

Through such campaigns, SABIC is also highlighting its own excellence in resource management and environmental care. SABIC has effective programs in place to reduce its overall environmental footprint in its operations and to recycle waste in its manufacturing processes. SABIC also aims at creating environmental awareness in society, particularly in areas of climate change, resource scarcity and waste recycling.

The winners will be announced by the end of February, coinciding with the Waste-Free Environment campaign to be organized by SABIC and the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemicals Association in Jubail, Riyadh and Yanbu.
