Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) on Sunday received the 2014 top award of the council of Arab ministers responsible for environmental affairs for a program designed to minimize gas emission.
The theme of the winning paper submitted to the ministerial meeting held in Jeddah was "A program on managing abidance by air quality and cutting gas burning at KOC." KOC is keen on enhancing cooperation with the Kuwaiti Environment Public Authority (EPA) to secure the success of the latter's programs for protecting the environment and people's health.
In addition, the KOC supports the EPA to achieve its strategic goals, namely developing an effective mechanism for implementing and following up conformity with environment legislations and systems for the sake of improving air quality in Kuwait.
In 2009, KOC and EPA signed an MOU for a joint project to implement a comprehensive plan for managing emissions from the company's operations through an administrative system that guarantees commitment to the relevant systems and criteria. The KOC financed the project.
