Head of the center for satellite researches in Science and Technology University Hossein Bolandi said Iran is building a satellite for environmental purposes.
Bolandi said that the images, which are to be captured by the "Zafar" satellite, could be used tracking and spotting oil resources and mines, exploring woods, salt lands, botanic diseases and preventing natural disasters, the Islamic republic news agency reported.
He went on to say that the Zafar satellite's captured images have a resolution of 22.5 mega pixel and it could provide data to 256 users simultaneously.
The precision of the Iranian satellite's imagery is doubled, Bolandi added, noting that it is capable of capturing images from the earth surface.
