The 33rd meeting of GCC environment undersecretaries will kick-start in Kuwait on today, with the participation of all the six GCC member states.
Hosted by Environment Public Authority (EPA) and organized by the General Secretariat of the GCC, the meeting aims to strengthen cooperation between the GCC countries, international and regional organizations in the field of environment as well as operational programs, plans and projects of joint cooperation, Director-General of the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Rajaa Al-Busairi said.
She pointed out that ongoing environmental cooperation between the participating GCC states will witness a new phase through a number of projects and GCC Framework Convention on the protection of environment as well as GCC Prize for the Environment.
The meeting will discuss the recommendations of the GCC group on chemicals and hazardous waste, ozone and GCC study of land degradation, which began its work in Kuwait three years ago, Al-Busairi added.
Al-Busairi expressed a positive outcome of the meeting, especially after preparations done by the GCC General Secretariat through the study of GCC groups and GCC 'Green' initiative and sustainable development.
