Consultation meeting in Kuwait discusses AFED report on Food Security in Arab Countries 21/5/2014
Food security options in Arab countries was the subject of a consultation meeting hosted today by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, in preparation for the seventh annual report of the Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED).
 
The two-day meeting, attended by 40 experts including editors and authors of the report chapters, is dedicated to discuss the draft report, which will be presented and discussed during AFED’s seventh annual conference on 26-27 November in Amman.
 
Dr. Abdulwahab A. Al-Bader, Director General of Kuwait Fund, praised in his welcoming speech AFED’s hard work to provide information and analysis based on scientific grounds.
 
Najib Saab, AFED Secretary General, said that “the report aims to study best ways to enhance the capacity of natural resources to cope with the growing demand for food in the region. It also seeks to develop the right policies which enhance food security in Arab countries, taking account of water scarcity, climate change and growing population.”
