The Al-Ahsa Municipality and Saudi Aramco launched an awareness campaign, titled “garbage-free roads” with the aim to organize the disposal of debris from buildings being torn down for new construction or for new building projects. The campaign’s focus is to protect the environment and prevent visual pollution.

 

The urban growth and infrastructural development in Al-Ahsa is witnessing an increase in the volume of debris from construction works which the municipality plans to recycle and use in different projects. This will result in a safe disposal of the waste as well as protect the environment and the landscape.

 

The awareness and educational campaign will cement the mutual strategies of Al-Ahsa Municipality and Saudi Aramco for a cleaner environment. It is hoped that everyone would cooperate and assume their responsibilities to preserve the environment by refraining from throwing waste randomly.

 

The campaign will last 10 days and is part of Saudi Aramco’s responsibilities toward society which is cooperating with the Al-Ahsa Municipality for a pollution-free environment. The campaign also aims to raise the environmental awareness among contractors to show them the importance of responsible disposal of waste.

 

The focus will be on educating workers and their supervisors at three main locations which include the Municipality’s and Saudi Aramco’s waste disposal sites. The process of disposing waste will be supervised and new sites for waste disposal will be marked to hold the increasing volume of debris.

 

Buses for the campaign will be dispatched to various locations to promote the joint environmental awareness program of Aramco and Al-Ahsa Municipality.
