Over 300 take part in Yanbu cleaning drive 9/1/2014
More than 300 volunteers took part in a cleaning campaign in the Aqeefa district of Yanbu, in Saudi Arabia. Garbage weighing more than seven tons was removed from the district during the campaign organized by the social service department at the Royal Commission for Yanbu.

“The volunteers collected the garbage in plastic bags and dumped it in a safe place,” said one of the organizers, adding that the social service department at the commission had provided support for the campaign’s success.

Saudis and residents in the district took part in the campaign, which reflects growing awareness about the importance of such programs to protect the environment.

A department official said the campaign was carried out as part of the commission’s corporate social responsibility programs.
