Experts clear air on ‘cloud seeding’ mechanism 11/12/2013
Saudi water and energy experts have disclosed that the Kingdom has spent large amounts of money on the “cloud seeding” method, a form of intentional weather modification, over the past few years.

The experts made these declarations during a special lecture addressing activists and a large gathering of attendees at the Diwaniyat Jeddah last week.

Adil Bushnak, a member of the Supreme Economic Council and the head of Water and Energy Forum, explained that deploying the same planes used for cloud seeding to reverse the method is out of the question.

Bushnak expressed his reservations over photos that have appeared on social networking sites depicting aircrafts flying over Jeddah to disperse clouds.

The event was attended by activists, community figures, businessmen, dignitaries and media personalities. Experts and activists took part in the discussion, including Jamal Burhan, founder of a social network group called “For the Sake of Jeddah’s residents,” and Wasef Kabli, a prominent figure in Jeddah and Makkah and a social activist and expert on the history of Jeddah.

The gathering also focused on the scarcity of water resources in the Kingdom.
